Welcome to The WVFRD Website
Waterloo Volunteer Fire & Rescue was established in 1975 with two
military surplus trucks, and a few residents wanting to help. WVFRD has
evolved over the years to
operating 3 stations, 9 Fire Trucks with 70 volunteer Firefighters, EMT's , Jr. Firefighters, and Support Staff
dedicated to serving the community in which we live. Most of WVFRD's fire
district of 125 square miles is covered under an ISO class 6. By providing
a quick and quality response to emergency calls including fire, rescue,
medical emergencies, vehicle extrication, we feel that WVFRD has made a
contribution to the quality of life in our rural area.. We are also
committed to public education through activities like Fire Prevention Week
where we visit our local school, Accident reenactments during prom week,
and our junior firefighter program. Our junior firefighter program
allows students that meet criteria of school grades, driving record, and
good community standing, to train and participate in the program which
gives them the ability to learn responsibility, leadership and community
pride. We also have a scholarship program for the junior firefighters,
scholarships are given on the criteria of leadership, attendance, and
need. WVFRD is proud to serve the town of Waterloo and the surrounding
communities and look forward to a continued partnership with the People
that has made this area great.
